We are writing to ask for your immediate help.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Russound has initiated a VOLUNTARY RECALL of all AW70V6 70V/100V Surface Mount Loudspeakers shipped from Russound prior to March 17, 2023, which includes loudspeaker(s) you have purchased. COMPLIANCE WITH THIS RECALL CAN BE FULFILLED WITH A SIMPLE PRODUCT REPLACEMENT.
This VOLUNTARY RECALL is due to an important mechanical issue related to the AW70V6 loudspeakers that has recently come to our attention.
The AW70V6 speaker cabinet is assembled in two pieces, a front baffle and a rear cabinet which are joined together with screws. In some instances, the interior plastic posts where the screws are mounted have failed, causing the front and rear of the speaker to separate. AS A RESULT, THIS CAN PRESENT A SERIOUS FALL DAMAGE HAZARD TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY LOCATED BENEATH THE LOUDSPEAKER. While the number of such failures is extremely low, there is a possibility of a serious hazard when an AW70V6 speaker is mounted in an elevated location on a wall, post, ceiling, etc. above an area where people may be present.
Russound will be replacing the AW70V6 loudspeaker with a new replacement Mark 2 model, the AW70V6mk2 at no cost to customers.
Replacement AW70V6mk2 loudspeakers are expected to be available for shipment to customers immediately. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requires we contact each AW70V6 owner (distributors, dealers, resellers, and consumers) about this voluntary recall and provide instructions on how to mitigate any risk. Please be assured the mandatory customer contact information you provide for the purpose of this voluntary recall campaign will not be used for any other purposes.
HERE’S WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO:
Step 1: Segregate all unsold AW70V6 loudspeakers in your inventory IMMEDIATELY.

Step 2: Notify Russound of the quantity of unsold units you have on hand. Russound will send you information on how to proceed so that you can get these units replaced.
Step 3: Locate available sales information for the AW70V6 speakers. This is to obtain customer contact information for as many speakers sold as possible. For each affected AW70V6 loudspeaker pair sold, either forward the attached end-user letter to the customer or forward the customer information to Russound for us to communicate the recall information. This contact information is critical as Russound will attempt to contact all of your customers who have purchased an affected AW70V6 loudspeaker to notify them of this voluntary recall and instruct them on the recall process. Additionally, please be aware that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requires that Russound make these notifications.
Step 4: Go to https://www.russound.com/AW70V6. Using this webpage, please provide your shipping information and the total number of pairs of AW70V6 speakers of each color you will be replacing for your customers. This webpage will explain the process and the steps needed to receive replacement AW70V6mk2 speakers.
Step 5: Be prepared to assist customers regarding this voluntary recall. Customers will be instructed to immediately uninstall/remove any AW70V6 loudspeakers that are mounted in an elevated location. They will be instructed to upload a photo of the rear of each AW70V6 speaker that they have removed/uninstalled and
provided instructions on how to disable it in order to qualify for the free replacement AW70V6mk2 loudspeaker(s). Customers who are unable to do this themselves will be instructed to contact Russound and will be referred to their original dealer or installer for assistance.
Please be aware that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will be monitoring the effectiveness of this voluntary recall.
